I’ve been watching my friends Jack Russel for a few months and she just went into heat. I have a male pit bull that is 75lbs and the Jack Russell is around 30lbs or so. She’s bigger than average for a jack russell. Anyways, if she’s preggers will she be ok? Also, to make things worse, she loves our neighbors and they have chiwawas and of course they mated too? No joke. I feel very embarrassed and ashamed. I’m not trying to be funny or kid around, I’m actually serious and need a veterinarians opinion. Thank you so much.

if she was impregnanted by a 75 pd dog, that could KILL her. She is too small to carry and whelp those puppies safely.
Since you failed to prevent an accidental mating while the dog was under your care, you should to offer to pay to have the dog spayed ASAP. It will be safer for her to be spayed and abort any possible pregnancies.
If the Jacki is pregnant with pit bull puppies the likely hood of surviving the pregnancy or delivery is not very high.
If you believe it’s the pit puppies I would hurry your jackie into the vet for a quick spay to save her life.
If it’s chihuahua puppies then she’ll survive the pregnancy. If I were you though I would get her spayed asap no matter if she’s pregnant or not.
Then you won’t have to worry about anything and just enjoy your pet.

My degreed advice to you is to get that JRT spayed immediately and neuter the male dog.
You Jack Russell Terrier would be in danger of dystocia (the puppies being too big to come out on their own) and would need an emergency c-section to deliver the puppies. This is a very expensive medical procedure, about $2,000.
Please listen to my advice.
1) You are on Yahoo Answers. The only “vets” on here are 12 year old kids messing around on the computer after bed time.
2) No, she will not be okay. She needs an emergency spay. When you breed a b*tch to a stud over twice her size you are asking for some serious pregnancy & labor complications, plus the world does not need any more mutts.
**Added** You had an unspayed female dog and an unneutered male dog in the same living quarters – you can’t try harder than that.
First of all yes it can be harmful to the jack russel. That is why they tell people don’t mate a large male with a small female dog b/c the puppy’s will be to large for the female to handle. The situation often leads to death.
Second i suggest you bring that dog to the local vet right away.
Third get your dog neutered. If he was this would have never happened and the other dog would not have this large chance of dieing.
There is only one legitimate vet on here and he is rarely on. Your question however does not require a vet. It is possible for a 75lb male to impregnate a 30lb female they are the same species. In all likelihood the pregnancy or delivery will kill the female. She needs an emergency spay/abort immediately
The female could become pregnant by either the pibble or the chi, or both. Consider getting the jack an abortion, earlier is better, talk to the vet and then explain the situation to your friend, perhaps on a three way call.

It is not smart to breed a small breed dog like a JRT to a large breed dog such as a PBT. However, my JRT “Jackie” just gave birth to 2 BEAUTIFUL baby “Jack-pits”, (Not to be confused with a jack-pots) I was extremely worried when I realized she was prego because the only male that had been around while she was in heat was a stray pit. I just sugest you watch the JRT very close if she does wind up prego. It is not likely that she would conceive pups to large to deliver, by a dog that that SUCESSFULY hooked up with her.
From my experience with Jackie, if you just keep a close eye on her through her delivery and watch for signs of complications, things should turn out fine.
