Decision determines destiny. You need to be able to turn it down a notch (or several) in order to get what you want out of life. You need to find the right balance. "Frankly" (pun intended), I would lean to the turning down a notch side. It generally goes over better in the serious adult world. How do you stop? Well right now, it is habit. It is where your mind is used to going. You associate good feelings with having a laugh. At the same time, you are starting to feel negative feelings about the reaction of your audience. You are on the fence. It is this pain and pleasure balance that is driving your behavior. As soon as you start to associate greater pain than pleasure you will likely stop. If you can't stop you may have some sort of compulsive disorder, but that is unlikely. To change your habit make a conscious effort to weigh the pros and cons before you speak.
