This Question From X-ray Jokes | 5 Answers
i was at the dentist yesterday where i was due to get a temporary crown, this was my third visit after having my x-rays consultation etc etc…When i walked in it there was a different dentist there, he was only bout 33 and didnt really look the part. But anyway he asked a few questions which he should have already known from my files, he then gave me another x-ray even though i told him id had weeks back, then he started to trill into my tooth and half way through went across to the other dentists room to ask him what he should do next, after much of this carrying on and to cut along story short, the end result was a joke he gave me a big split between my teeth which ive never had and told me it would be sorted in 2 weeks when my new crown was on, i told him i wasnt leaving until he filled it in and i caught him making a hand gesture behind my back, so he filled it in, now looks worse,im getting it done with another dentist nxt wk & i didnt pay him a penny, but im so upset and angry.?

You have a problem if you went private. If you went NHS there is a complaints procedure. However private patients have little comeback. You should firstly get a second opinion in writing then go through the small claims court. Getting the second opinion may be difficult because professionals stick together.
You say it is only a temp crown so give him the chance to fit the permanent one. If you are not happy don’t pay. He has then got to take civil proceedings against you. He may not want to risk this if he knows you will tell your side of the story in court.
I suggest that you take a photo of the work he did. Then go and see someone who specialises in compensation. I don’t think you should pay for the treatment if it is as bad as you say. You really need to seek legal advice try one of the company’s that advertise for no win no fee.
get a lawyer. it’s still a medical procedure, and still can be considered malpractice if you can prove that his screw up left you distraught enough with your appearance that you can claim damages or pain and suffering (which i’m sure you experienced anyways since going to the dentist isn’t fun). make THEM pay for the repairs that a competent dentist will have to do.
You must report him to the British dentist association(it’s something like that). I’ve rang them up before checking on dentist’s reputations, rough prices for treatment and advice. They’re very helpful. You’ll put a black mark against his name and they can even make sure he never practices again under certain situatons.
I think this dental office is responsible to repair the damage that was done by this guy–for free. They should consider themselves lucky if you don’t sue them.
Make them fix this, and then find another dentist.
Are you in the UK (the use of “dodgy” makes me think that.) Because, if you’re in the States, there is a 1-800-DENTIST number that makes referrals.
