I think the whole entire profession is a complete joke. I think shrinks mess people up more than help them.

No I do ot think that it is a joke. First of all “shrinks” are not here to fix your problems. They are here to teach you ways to deal with your problems, and how to face your problems. Only the person with the problem has the ability to fix it. “Shrinks” can be a wonderful tool to use for people who have no one else to talk to about their issues. Yes some “shrinks” do create problems. But the majority of them are there to listen and provide guidance without doing harm.
“Psychiatry” could very well do more harm that help- they are the professionals that diagnose and prescribe medicine. I do feel that listening for fifteen minutes, making a hasty diagnosis, and resting all the problems on medicines can be harmful in the idea that the patient will never learn to deal with problem as long as they have their meds.
However, “psychology” is less of a scam. Of course there are some “shrinks” out there that only want money or attention, but I find that most have good hearts, and truly want to help people. People generally seek out psychologists in place of psychiatrists merely because they need to bounce ideas and feelings off of someone they know cannot tell anyone (legal reasons, confidentiality), or simply for the fact that they’re professionals and will have a good idea of what’s going on in their life.
So… I honestly think some people are whiners, but some people need it. Don’t make such hasty generalizations.

Agreed. All human beings really need is a way to rid themselves of their thetans.
It’s not a joke, they’re just not very far along a very, very complex subject. Sometimes they think they are, that’s the joke! The human mind is much more complex than a computer, which is designed to be “like” a mind, and here’s what the geeks say: How can you tell someone who knows nothing about computers? They’ll tell you that they know alot. I think the same can be said about psychiatrists and the mind. They know nothing!
Sometimes peoples “brain” chemistry does get out of tune, so to speak and a psychiatrist can help get that back in alignment.
Just as in any field, there are competent and incompetent professionals. If you ever get in a serious depression, or suffer from something like bi-polar disease, they understand you are in a world of hurt, and can help you through your crisis.
It’s a different practice than psychology, where they do not administer medications.
No,it’s just miss-used by some people to get ahead and for money,there are some people who can truly help someone with this profession.

I don’t. If it wasn’t for psychiatrists and psychiatrythere would be a lot more mentally and emotionally unstable people running around to make your life miserable. What’s the matter you mad at shrinks cause yours didn’t fall for your “charms”?
