Someone in my immediate family just endured the indignancy and horror of having an awake colonoscopy at AMC**. While the procedure was begun without her consent, she cried out in pain repeatedly and begged for the physician to stop, which he did not. A nurse and patient care tech were involved with holding different parts of her body down to prevent her from flailing, etc. Upon describing the experience, after which the doctor left her without treating her pain with so much as a tylenol, she explained the incident as feeling like she’d been ‘raped’ – and we would like to take legal action. Immediately. The more high profile and scarier the lawyer, the better. Thanks.

I believe the word is metaphor not hoax. I doubt that the description of the incident is accurate (consent is always obtained before a colonoscopy anywhere) but that doesn’t mean that she didn’t FEEL raped, It never says that she was raped or accused more than one doctor (there was a nurse and patient care tech but no other doctor involved). Most likely, she was somewhat sedated and didn’t remember giving consent or she is incapable of giving consent and a family member did it for her. Her memory of not being given any pain medication may be inaccurate as well or her medication may have been stolen by a dishonest nurse or someone else. It’s sad but not unheard of for OR meds to go missing or not be given to the proper person. It’s not unreasonable to ask the hospital to provide a copy of the signed consent and the medication administration record. Most likely that’s as far as she can go with it though.
this person should have been given a drug to make them loopie and it is a drug that makes you not remember the pain i know iv’e been there . i don’t think you have a case !!!!!!!! but you can try
I wouldn’t make fun of anyone who experienced something like this. People in authority some times abuse their authority and this is fact. the only thing that is scary is that medical malpractice happens everyday. If she asked them to stop and they didn’t and held her down this could be really traumatizing. Would you like this to happen to you?
