This Question From Healthcare Jokes | 11 Answers
Remember those Keith Olbermann reports about how bad Walter Reed Hospital was run and the VA crappy medical for vets?
Why are those stories only run when the Republicans are in government?
It would not benefit the Democrats now to point out how lousy the Govt runs health care?
As soon as his chosen party got into power, the government can suddenly do no wrong. Fast becoming a joke to me now.

I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the issues with healthcare relying on FOX and other sources to spread misinformation about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad.
First of all, Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it is cheaper. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Holland and Switzerland where private companies are involved in providing insurance.
Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.
Third, Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this.
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.
FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover.
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.
Last of all if you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012.
You do know that Walter Reed was fine until a couple of years into the Iraq War, right?
And it was fine because it was funded up to that point; and the funding disappeared when Bush put all money to the Iraq War. He didn’t want to raise the funds (taxes) necessary to cover it, so he had to borrow the money from other countries and from Social Security and Medicaid and Medicare. Hence the real reason why those programs are failing; since they were doing fine until Bush got a hold of them as well.
And interestingly enough, Walter Reed is being renovated and repaired. Care to guess why? Well last year, when Barack Obama was still a Senator, he and Colin Powell backed a veterans rights bill to fix what Bush had done. You know who fought against that bill? BOTH Bush and McCain; said that it costs too much.
Bush was more than happy to spend money to get soldiers killed, but didn’t want to spend money to help those soldiers if they were able to escape death and come back wounded instead. Bush was more than happy to make this country broke to kill Iraqis, now Republicans are fighting all attempts to make healthcare affordable for Americans.
And you guys seriously believe that Liberals are the ones who hate this country? C’mon.
We have two separate issues. Because of lack of funding and a sudden uptick in demand because of our two back to back wars the VA hospitals fell behind the curve. Currently the VA has caught up with the curve….to some extent because of Olbermann revelations. But nobody is suggesting that the the government should own the civilian hospitals and nobody has any plan to put doctors on the federal payroll. What has been suggested is the establishment of a non-profit public corporation charged with insuring any American that wishes to sign up for low cost and accessible HEALTH INSURANCE. We already have this kind of insurance via Medicare and Medicaid and there’s no doubt that as a HEALTH INSURANCE venue they both do the job that they’re intended to do…at a lower cost overall than private for-profit insurance companies. I’m sure that a lot of folks will allow this explanation to sail right over their heads because of all of the propaganda put out by the HEALTH INSURANCE mafia as they desperately attempt to keep their cash cow safe. A public option or single payer HEALTH INSURANCE plan would be a God sent for millions of working class Americans….evidently the GOP has no time for those people…I wonder why?
Are you actually defending the care vets got at Walter Reed Hospital. And who in hell says the government can do no wrong? This is a attack on someone?Hell you are really reaching for something that isn’t there.I can’t even understand what it is your saying so I’ll just answer your question.Yes I remember those Keith Olberman reports about how bad Walter Reed Hospital was run.
Walter Reed had problems 20 years ago.Great Doctors and nurses. The problem was the administration and waiting time.Lets replace that great insurance policy Congress has and let them go to Walter Reed. You would see a perfect hospital then
On the right you have hacks like O’reilly and Limbaugh
On the left you have equal but opposite partisan hacks like Olbermann
REAL Journalism is dunzo in this country, and it died w/ Tim Russert.
In all honesty and from my experiences in the military-the government care sucked bad.
Walter Reed was falling apart because Republicans cut funding.
You mean like how Fox News reports on popular protests only when they are focused against Democrats?
Agreed.
