This Question From Plastic Surgery Jokes | 18 Answers
Any woman who dresses modestly is “sexless.”
We’re forced to listen to phrases like “chic flick” used to describe any move with dialoge and character development.
We’re forced to listen to blond jokes.
Women with wrinkles on their faces almost never appear on TV or in the movies, except as figures of fun.
Women are expected to have plastic surgery–to undergo extreme risk and extreme expense to make themselves more pleasing to men.

I agree with everything you wrote. That is the state of affairs for women in American today, for certain. Any marginalized group that REMAINS marginalized must also be brainwashed to prevent uprising…women have been brainwashed (by the media) to believe it’s okay to mutilate their faces and empty their wallets for beauty.
Also, what can’t be taken out of the mix here is capitolism. Capitolism has exploited the female “quest for beauty” to the point that it is a huge money-maker . The more women have to pluck, clip, pull, smooth, and shave, the more money companies like Loreal, etc, make. So of course they want us to believe there’s something wrong with us.
It started with the baby-boomers who invented ‘youth’ and as soon as they became managers, anyone older than them, took early retirement, because the boomers couldn’t STAND the company of wrinklies and crumblies. Older people of 45 left in droves and embarrassment at the shorter skirts and everybody on first name terms because they were all so incredibly happening and young.
Life became a great party and it was the aim of them all to be rich and famous and seen on television. We lost all the old experts who ran the railways and transport – everybody borrowed and spent – nothing ran properly but at least there were none of those ghastly old people cluttering up the workplace. It wasn’t just the women who lost their dignity either. Ask the older men.
The baby boomers at the top end are now over 60 and enjoying their ‘middle-youth’ and embarrassing their grandchildren. The mass media culture places everybody on the screen which accounts for cosmetic surgery. Like Julie Christie – who only gave in because – as she said “I was sick of meeting people 10 years older than me who looked 10 years younger”.
In the unreasonable contempt some blokes have for womens’ attempts to look acceptable, try not to blame those afflicted. This kind of society has been wished on them. They didn’t organise it, and scorn helps nobody.
What you have described is all media hype and not the erosion of feminine dignity. Women who buy into this nonsense have low self esteem. The number of Botox treatments increased in men 233% from 2000 to 2003. So what does this tell you? We all get sucked into the hype.
What you have offered as examples are all truths….but they have nothing to do with dignity. Dignity is individually held and felt. And no one and nothing can erode a person’s dignity…they do that for or to themselves.
Those women who CHOOSE to cave in to societal pressures and have the plastic surgeries or dress in certain manners are making decisions…and if they feel they have lost their dignity as a result…they have no one to blame but themselves. Its time women stopped blaming society for the particular losses of ‘self’. Do you think that the women’s movement got as far as it did by whining and blaming society for its hardships? No! In spite of a world that didn’t want to see women advance, they did it. Today’s woman and ‘feminist’ could learn much from that…
In the US, corporations sell their products by promoting insecurity: “if you buy our product you’ll be attractive and desirable”. And they aren’t just using women, they see a whole new market of men to make insecure and sell their products to.
The majority of businesses could care less about the welfare of their customers, or the impact of their marketing or products on society. If it sells, and they can get away with it, a business does it.
Since we work for many of these businesses, their lack of values permeates many if not all parts of our lives. Unless workers have a say in how they are treated, and customers demand to be treated well, businesses will continue to exploit their workers, customers, and society for the almighty dollar. There is a high price to pay for unbridled capitalism. We were formerly an agrarian society, working for ourselves. No more. Corporate American rules our society.
Women themselves have destroyed what little dignity they had left, in their attempt to make themselves feel better about their aging, shifting bodies.
actually it is the opposite
women with no self worth feel they need to get these surgeries because they have no confidence in themselves
they let the world dictate what is beautiful instead of recognizing it in themselves.
only you can define who you are not anyone else
they judge you because they cannot judge themselves
You reap what you sow. It is society in general. Morals, beliefs, compassion, thoughtfullness.
The dignity of both men and women has been eroded by present day do-as-you-want, anything-goes, perverted society.
And mindless politicians must take the blame.
Feminism.
Feminists demanded sexual liberation and marginalised marriage which increased market demand for short term qualities such as appearance and promiscuity. This led to competition between women for attention and escalating more sexually revealing fashions.
Older women used to be valued in the context of a marriage by their husbands.. now if they want to compete for male attention for short term relationships with younger women they are completely out of luck.
Women in India and Asia are not like what you say. They have alot of decorum.
I’ll let you into a little secret fellas. We do it to wind men up! When a man dresses modestly he is a geek, man movies-no plot-scantily clad/naked women-I know some ‘blonde’ guys-not even going to answer the movie statement-and who expects us to get plastic surgery? If a woman wants to do that she is usually getting some prompting from a guy. Our dignity may appear to have eroded because it is usually being undermined by men sweety. Lo xxx
Yes I have , and at forty-six with a twenty something daughter I am more concerned about how this effects her self esteem and her need to fit in to her own generation. I still get sick from dumb Blondie jokes. I get told that t here is something wrong with me because i can’t laugh at myself. Or my self respect misplaced?
It is a sad fact.
maybe
In case you haven’t noticed….men are becoming more feminine and women are becoming more masculine. You can see it in television shows like NIP/TUCK….great show.
women need to not be so insecure, i love women for their personalities, not looks,
Unfortunately, women are now acting like men. Sexual harassment in the work place has always been thought to be a men harassing a women. Now it is the opposite. I dont know how a man can stay faithful with all these women wearing revealing clothing and talking filthy and offering themselves up to any man who will have them. Womens lib started the whole thing and now it is out of control. One thing i have noticed, men only use these woman but they still want a wife who will be faithful and dress modestly.
