i just spent 300+ on a vet visit, x-rays, blood test, etc… my cat got really sick within a few days and i don’t care how much it will cost to figure out how to make my cat well again…i’d do anything for my Jack, but after spending 300+ already, I’m pretty much confirming that vets are a complete joke. is there a magic number that I need to drop down before the vet figures out what’s wrong? i’m hoping the joke of a veterinarian doctor figures out what’s wrong before it’s too late.

Medicine is not clear cut. You can’t always just run bloodwork and find the problem. Some patients are “lucky” enough to be that easy to diagnose, but if your buddy isn’t one of those, then sit back and enjoy the ride.
If you don’t think your vet is competent, take your cat’s history, his bloodwork, and his xrays and take them for a second opinion.
Well it takes about a day or so for the blood work right?
He should be able to give you a diagnosis or at least what he “thinks” is wrong with the cat. The cat might need more advance tests, such as a CT Scan, in which case most community vets don’t have. You will have to go to an animal hospital.
I hope it doesn’t come to that. A good vet will tell you if its “worth” going the extra mile.
Just have patients, and pray to God that Jack will get better. Everything will turn out fine.
Sometimes it is not straight forward to diagnose what is wrong with an animal and further tests are needed. It sounds like your vet is doing all the right things by having diagnostics done (blood work, x-ray) because without these things it’s simply a guess and test.
If you honestly feel that this vet is incompetent then go somewhere else. Maybe they will have new ideas and will be able to discover what is wrong. Maybe they will have different tests that they prefer (ultra sound, etc). It’s really hard to say without knowing what is going on with your cat.
Do you expect your doctor to magically look at you and guess what is wrong? You can even tell him what you feel. Your cat can’t and sometimes the diagnostics are the only thing that will let the vet discover what is going on. Honestly, $300 isn’t very much in terms of vet care. Compared to my area you are getting off cheap.
