If My Doctor Forgot Me In The Room, Is That The Nurse’s Fault?

This Question From Nurse Jokes | 9 Answers

I waited for 45 minutes in my room at the doctors office. I heard the staff joking and laughing outside. I finally opened the door to see the Doc talking to the staff. She entered a minute later apologizing, but I can’t figure how she didn’t know she had a patient in there!
Was it the nurse who was supposed to tell her? It was closing time when I left.

Yuppers, I’mOk, I think it was probably the nurse’s fault. I’m guessing she probably forgot to place your chart in the receptacle outside the exam room—this happened once to my hubby, and he was left waiting for an hour and a half!
The doctor sees your chart outside your room, then brings it in when he/she enters the exam room.
It’s not the doctor’s job to figure out who’s waiting to be seen; it’s his/her job to attend to the patient. Sounds like somebody dropped the ball here :(
Girl if I were you, I’d be wearing the horns today! ;)

No the nurse does not tell the doctor. She puts your chart in the holder outside the door and the doc knows he has a patient to see. The nurse had no clue the doc hadn’t been in to see you yet. If the doc isn’t in there in a reasonable amount of time you should go out to the nurses desk and let them know you have been waiting a long time.

How Rude. Ask her if your simply not important enough to see. Tell her you wouldn’t have come if you didn’t have a problem, and tell her your sorry you’ve wasted her joking time. It’s both the doctor and the nurse’s fault. THEY know you’re there, the thing is did they do anything about it? Or maybe they didn’t think your condition was important enough for immediate attention. Other than that, they are just plain rude.
Good for you for opening the door.

Depends on office procedure, but it most likely was the Dr. forgetting what she was told. They do have a lot on their mind, you know! But 45 minutes is really not a long time to wait in a room.

I usually have to wait around an 1hr before seeing the doctor, I wouldn’t mind waiting 45min =P

i think it is not the nurse fault neither it is the doctors.you know you needed help and u still seated.doctors basically are too busy due to the nature of their work.so u would have sent a reminder to him to know that u are still waiting.
