You could say something like "i wanted to make sure that you knew i was bi. i don't want to cause any problems between our friendship, but i wanted to know if you were bi too." from one bi to another, I know it's not THAT easy. I am only 18 and i came out when I was a freshman in high school. If you're good friends, then he will either tell you what you expected or he will deny it and just go on with the day as usual.
