Tired Of Anorexic Jokes?

This Question From Paramedic Jokes | 6 Answers

I am 5’1 with scoliosis, (so i might be taller just shorter cause of back lol) and i weigh 95 pounds. Usually it flucuates within the day, from like 93-97ish. Whenever I meet people (usually older people, like my sisters who are in 30s, i’m from older parents) friends, they will say things like
How much do you eat?
Geeze, do you feed her?
You need to pack on some meat girl
Or just jokes about things, like my sis’s friend is fixing a door frame the dogs scratched and chewed up and he said “Did they not feed you so you were scratching around to get some?” or something like that.
I’m really tired of it. I’m trying to become a volunteer firefighter and emt, and these jokes make me feel like i can’t do it, but the werid thing is, is i’m stronger than all the girls i’ve met, (not literally)
I worked out so i got muscular frame, but you cant tell unless i flex, but i havent in a long time but i will for Firetraining.
Please help me.

Eh…just blow it off. I get that all the time, since I’m slim, slender, short, and I work as a paramedic. When I first started, most of my coworkers doubted my ability to perform my job (lots of heavy lifting). It took close to a year, but over time, I was able to prove myself. Nothing you can say will discourage those comments, just politely ignore them.
If you feed into those types of comments by getting defensive, it only encourages them to continue to pick on you. You’ve got to develop a thick skin if you want to be a firefighter/EMT…those guys will pick on you like crazy if they like you, and even more if they don’t! Not a day goes by where I don’t get teased about something or other. Just learn to laugh it off and tease back :)

smile and tell them you are fine. say” i am comfortable with my body. im sorry that you are not” or “I am perfectly healthy, thank you” it is always better to be polite.

I was very thin in high school and I constantly received similar comments so I know how you feel. My best advice would be to ignore them and stay confident that you are healthy and beautiful the way you are.

I agree 100% with what Amy posted (the first post). Being extremely polite and nice about it usually takes people by surprise and makes them feel like a complete jerk for even picking on you about it.

I don’t know sorry to hear about you problem but the best advice I can give is try to gain a couple of lbs even though you prob don’t want to maybe it might get them off of your back! Good Luck

check your BMI (body mass index), just to make sure you’re ok. it uses your height and weight. you can find a site online that will canculate it. nothing meant by that, by the way, i just think that it would be good to check that.
as long as you’re eating healhy– veggies, fruits, meat.. some grain, and few sweets, you seem fine. i would assume you have a high metabolism.
some people just don’t understand that others can be skinny without having a problem. be confident in yourself, and ignore them. or, for your sisters, kindly let them know that it offends you. make an “I” statement… “I feel _____ when you ____.” this tells them how you feel, in a way that does not place blame on them.
    hope that helps. :)
