Why not talk to her, she might be either perfectly happy with her size or have an illness that makes her large, just because she is overweight doesn’t mean she is going to poo poo your wants and needs for a diet, shes a doctor and a professional person who’s job it is to listen, though slimming pills aren’t given out much these days by any doctor, fat or thin.

A doctor is there to make you better, no matter what their lifestyle choices are. For example they may not be a smoker but would still diagnose and treat smoking related illnesses, they may not agree with teen pregnancy but would still treat someone who is in that situation. I think a doctor would send you to a dietitian anyway to be treated by them. Just because a doctor maybe doesn’t follow her own advice doesn’t mean she would give you bad advice or no prescriptions for dietary pills. I think you should ask her to put you in contact with a dietitian and you can follow the advice of someone who is probably fit and slim. They have codes of conduct and probably would remain unbiased about anything no matter what their life is like. I’ve heard that many gp’s drink alot but would not prescribe that to anyone!

I think it is important for my doctor to be American and a reflection of good health. I’ve actually changed doctors before as a result of this.

That doctor is just another highly sensitive human being who like the majority of so called ‘fat people’ probably has a lot of emotional and personal issues that he trying to come to terms with.Who would want to be a doc meeting endless streams of miserable or workshy people with fattist attitudes.As for the U.K government bringing in legislation to discriminate against overweight people I would say be careful what you wish for ,fatties today,anorexics tomorrow,stutterers next week,oh! and ginger’s and lefthanders had better be careful too.lol.Roll on death pension is to long away to wait for…

the person is a doctor , they will respect your request as a patient, or find a new doctor.
