This Question From Medical Cartoons | 2 Answers
Whenever you see a doctor in a children’s cartoon or a comedy sketch or funny commercial or anything that is not supposed to be serious they always have their white lab coat, a stethoscope, and that shiny thing strapped to their forehead. What is that thing supposed to be? I’m sure it is some medical tool that has fallen out of common usage but my only guess would be like a light maybe.

It’a a reflector – It’s used to bounce the light from a mirror – yo’ll see a hole in the middle of it. It called – a Doctor’s Head Reflector.
It flips down and he/she looks through it, usually into your throat. The mirror bounces light to where-ever he is looking.
its a mirror reflector with a hole in the middle to look through, ENT docs use it a lot…a light behind the patient reflects it into the throat.
